A professional longarm machine quilter for hire and some of the work I've done.
Who knew July would sneak up on me so quickly? I did get another quilt finished although I’ve had trouble posting about it. For some reason wordpress has decided to act up for the last few days on this blog but not my other one.
This is Gordon’s quilt. I love the colors and the layout. All that bias in the piecing and then more bias of the setting can be tricky to keep straight on the machine.
He left the quilting up to me. I decided the back should look good without overwhelming the front. What I mean is that the quilting would not show on the pretty floral fabric front but would look nice on the back. Umm…. its better if you see it. Click the photo for a closer view.
Do you see now how the floral fabric has a nearly invisible design that looks good on the back? It would have been easy to use a simple straight line design like piano keys or crosshatching in those areas. I wanted them to be better than that.
I think it turned out rather nice. I hope he thinks so too. I’ve called and left him a message its finished but he hasn’t called me back. He might be out of town or something. There are alot of retreats going on around here. Maybe he’ll see it on the blog. What do you think? Were my choices good?
