A professional longarm machine quilter for hire and some of the work I've done.
These are two wall hangings I started during a painting class with Hollis Chatelain a few months ago. I finished the quilting in order to enter them into the fair.
This is the back side.
This wall hanging is one used just for testing the painting technique.
I used this one for testing different background stitching too.
Here’s a look at the back.
I don’t expect either of these to win ribbons. One is in the textile department and one is in the fine arts department. My reason for the entry is only to get a judges critique.
I also entered an unfinished top and a single block but failed to take photos of those. I saw some new categories I had suggested last year. I was excited to see three categories based on “recycled” fabric. YEA! Finally a place for recycled textiles. I started with this.
And made this.
I know its not that special and really not a winner but I wanted to enter something so I could show interest in the categories. Enough interest means they will keep it. I didn’t get the entry book until middle of June and I still had the other quilts to finish.
I really, really wanted to enter something in the other two recycle fabric categories but there just wasn’t enough time to get anything made. It’s odd I had nothing to enter because I usually make recycled fabric stuff all the time. Especially rugs. My rug frame is broken and I simply haven’t fixed it. Then I realized I’ve not made a rug for over a year. This made me a little sad because I love making rugs almost as much as making quilts. Come to think of it, I haven’t made as many quilts either. Anyway, I definitely plan to enter the other categories next year.
