Happy new year

Its a new year and I barely noticed the change happen.  In past years there would have been the sounds of gun shots from all directions as people in the neighborhood celebrated.  The sounds of gun shots would start about an hour before and continue for at least an hour after midnight.  I usually had to lay on the floor in the hallway to avoid any stray bullets if they should happen to hit the house.

On the news this morning it was reported that in the old neighborhood a toddler had been hit by a stray bullet.  The child is going to live, thank goodness.  This year it was totally different at my new house.  So quiet!   I heard only one gun being fired and it was from a distance away.  I slept very well in my own bed.

Today is my birthday.  I’ll celebrate quietly by going to bingo and later eating black eye peas with corn pones and a piece of carrot pie for desert.  First thing tomorrow I’m going to put the first quilt of 2017 on the machine to get started.  I’ve had some time off but now its time to start working again.  IF I have any customers.  That’s going to be the big test for me.  Do I still have customers or if not will I be able to get new ones this year.

I’m wishing everyone everywhere to forget about the dark and dismal  past year to have a much brighter year to come.  May the new year give you the strength to face the challenges of life and courage to adjust your path around those boulders so as to take every challenge in stride.   May you all have fun, joy, peace, love, caring, luck, and prosperity in this new year.
